Sorin Investments Closes Maiden Early-Stage VC Fund at Rs 1,350 Cr

Sorin Investments, an early-stage venture capital firm co-founded by former KKR India head Sanjay Nayar, has announced the final close of its maiden fund at Rs 1,350 crore. The fund is set to focus on Series A and B stage investments across various sectors, particularly in tech and tech-enabled businesses.

The limited partners (LPs) in this fund include a mix of family offices and institutions. Key LPs encompass the Nayar family office, Banga family office, Munjal family office, Henry Kravis (KKR) family office, other senior partners from KKR, SIDBI, Self Reliant India, and UP Startup Fund’s inaugural investment.

“We are grateful to the LPs who have shown faith in us and we at Sorin remain bullish on the Indian tech ecosystem driven by high quality entrepreneurs and increasing tech adoption by consumers and businesses,” said Sorin Investments Chairman Sanjay Nayar.

Since its inception, Sorin has already made five investments in companies such as Uniqus Consultech, Venwiz, and Litestore. This early activity underscores the firm’s commitment to fostering innovation within India’s burgeoning tech landscape.

“India is well on track to be the third largest economy aided by a strong and stable government which is supporting tech innovation and startups in a big way,” remarked Angad Banga, General Partner and co-founder at Sorin Investments.

In addition to its funding activities, Sorin Investments has strengthened its team by onboarding Subeer Monga as a partner. Monga brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at ICICI Ventures and Mayfield India.
