Garuda Aerospace Receives Dual Certification from DGCA for Drone Training and Manufacturing

Garuda Aerospace, a pioneering force in the adoption of drones across industries in India, has achieved a significant milestone in the country’s drone-tech ecosystem. The company has secured authorization for Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Small and Medium Class drones. This dual certification establishes Garuda Aerospace as the first and only drone company in India to hold both training and manufacturing certifications for small and medium class drones.

The authorization from DGCA marks a crucial advancement for Garuda Aerospace, enhancing its capabilities in drone training and manufacturing. This achievement aligns with the company’s commitment to driving the adoption of drones and allied technology across various sectors.

The DGCA authorization further strengthens Garuda Aerospace’s support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Namo Drone Didi’ initiative, which aims to empower 15,000 women Self Help Groups (SHGs) with agricultural drones. Additionally, it enables the company to pursue its goal of training one lakh youth across India to become drone pilots. Moreover, the certification supports Garuda Aerospace’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) initiative, the Equality Drone Training Program, which empowers persons with disabilities.

Garuda Aerospace’s range of small and medium drones is designed for diverse applications. Small class drones are well-suited for surveillance, monitoring, and photography, while medium drones excel in applications such as agricultural mapping, spraying, infrastructure inspection, delivery and load carrying services, and emergency response.

Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, expressed his gratitude for the dual certification, stating, “At Garuda Aerospace, we strive for excellence, and this dual certification by DGCA for training and manufacturing of small and medium drones is a testament to our efforts and vision. We firmly believe that drones have the power to support and transform numerous sectors.”

Garuda Aerospace has been actively involved in various initiatives, including the deployment of over 1000 drones for demonstrations as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. The company had previously received its Type Certificate and RPTO Authorization from DGCA for its Garuda Kisan Drones. Recently, it obtained its second Type Certification from DGCA for medium class drones. Backed by former Indian Cricket team captain M S Dhoni as an investor, Garuda Aerospace continues to drive innovation in India’s drone ecosystem. Following the launch of the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ initiative, the company has announced plans to expedite its Initial Public Offering (IPO), further solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.
